EditR

"My earliest recollection of music was the gospel and folk music from church. The whole family sang and played instruments. Grampa Huffaker played a mean fiddle, by the way, and I think I have probably sung every hymn ever written. At age five I started with piano lessons and was trained on classical music . By the time I was 17 I was composing ochestral scores.
However, from the day I discovered a name for it, my true love was and is rock-n-roll!

I taught myself to play guitar so I could play along with the harmonies and voicing of the Beatles, the rhythms of Creedance Clearwater Revival and the energy of the Doobie Brothers (the early stuff anyway). BTO, ELO, Boston and Uriah Heap. I listened to everything I could get my hands on. I wore out records to learn the tunes.
Then there was Elton John. A fellow piano player. Rock was a whole new game for me and my songwriting turned away from classical.
The advent of the synth was a big change in my world and I learned how to use computers to help me create music. My world expanded in time with hard-drives and bus speeds. All in the name of music.
MIDI and the digital age have helped to keep my musical exploration going. If all I could ever do was to make music, I’d be happy. Whether its been writing scores for video or DVD, producing internet A/V or making a CD with Venus Vain, I still just basically love rock-n-roll."
